My favourite tip is really simple: don’t commit to very much. I realize this isn’t easy for some people, but I seem to have managed it so far.

Also: if you’re spending all your cooking energy on baking (as I often do), soup is a really easy meal because it can cook as you bake.

I use whatever ingredients I have handy, but my favourite soup to eat is split pea so I look forward to having ham bones.

Don’t overspend this Christmas. My tip is try making more gifts or baking a treat rather than spending a bunch of money that you don’t have. And don’t be tempted to use that plastic, pay cash for your gifts that you do purchase.
