Many of you enjoyed my primer on recipe organization. A key point I glossed over is my reliance upon technology to inventory my recipes and plan new menus. I generally use this electronic list more than the rainbow file, but its convenient to have storage for both print and electronic culinary inspiration. (Why scan a recipe that might stink?)
What I Use:
- “Blog This” to bookmark recipes-to-try in my archive
- Scanner to digitize magazine clipping
- iPhoto to tag and sort these clippings
- ecto to add favorite recipes to the archive
In fact, I’ve amassed quite the collection of recipes-to-try. They come from a variety of sources on the web, from the foodie blogs I read daily to stand-alone recipe collections. In fact, this long list puts the rest of the archive to shame. It’s time to get cooking, and with the help of a few tools, planning my next menu is as quick as a few mouse clicks.

A menu planning service is a great way to save time.
Never thought of ecto used that way. Good idea!
